http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yugi_Muto

A long time ago, in a card game far, far away, there was a little, (no, really, he was tiny) teenaged boy with no friends. While he desparately wanted someone to hang out with, he had nothing in the way of people around him- save a few bullies. However, Yuugi was in possesion of a magical puzzle. See, he worked on this thing almost nonstop for 8 years, and was convinced that it would grant him a wish. Funny enough, he got the friends he so sorely desired in the same day he finished the puzzle.
After that, everyone who attempted to wrong him, or his newfound friends, would be found, well, regretting it, to say the least. Eventually, the crusading taking place during his blackouts gained him special... attention from some very powerful players in the worldwide gaming community. After he soundly wiped the card game floor with Seto Kaiba (apparently? He just sort of woke up and Seto was slumped over...), he recceived a strange video. It was Pegasus, of Industrial Illusions, who even went to the lengths of sucking out the soul of Yuugi's grandfather, to give him motivation to participate in the man's Duel Monsters tournament. He won- or rather, they won- himself, and the other version of himself that he had recently discovered.
Yuugi took the existence of another personality pretty dang well, considering what it had done to people in the past, and it didn't take them long to become very, very good friends. While he would have been complacent in having a second personality his whole life, his other self seemed to become more restless, and when Kaiba's Duel Monsters tournament, Battle City, started, he was almost secretive with his ward. Yuugi was confused, and a little worried, but didn't see the point in pushing it- it wouldn't solve anything.
It took a duel with the risk of losing your legs for him to realize that it was about his memory. Turns out that he was not only probably a pharaoh, he's also the sworn enemy of the crazy dude with magical powers.
At this point, whatever.
The whatevers faded when his best two freinds were mind controlled into very nearly killing- or being killed- by another high-stakes card game. In front of his sister, no less. They very nearly died, but, as things tend to, they worked out in the end. Things were about to get way, way worse.
The first part of the battle city finals, on a blimp, as it were is where Said crazy dude, Malik, went even crazier- and rose the stakes dramatically, by putting another friend into a magic-based torture coma, making Yuugi's best friend, Jounochi, swear to help her. With the addition of dark games, it seemed that the other Yuugi was getting serious about the god cards, and about this whole situation.
Some filler anime stuff about the previous Kaiba heir happened before the end of battle city, but it's not really relevant to Yuugi.
After everyone got off the Duel Boat, the finals were taking place on the man-made island (and former weapons testing facility) of Alcatraz. Jounouchi lost on purpose in order to duel Malik- and duel Malik he did.
...And was also sent into a coma in the process- almost having died- but not before revealing God of Ra's weakness, in more ways than one.
Regardless of what he had done, however, alomst losing him had a gigantic impact on the Yuugis, and on the group as a whole.
Orichalchos was pretty gay... and anime-only. AIIIBOUUU AIIBBOOUUUU
During the memory RPG, Dark Bakura ran a game based on the Pharaoh's lost memories- which was also pretty gay.
The only thing left was the ceremonial duel, which, against the odds, Yuugi tearfully won.

[ Personality ] :
Yuugi is the chillest bro a guy could ask for, even though he can still be a bit too timid at times. He's very caring, and can even willfully turn a blind eye to the dark in people if only because he's so idealistic. Mess with his family or friends, however, and the little guy will go down swinging to the best of his ability and, as far as strategy goes, the best of his ability isn't too bad. While it's not hard to earn Yuugi's trust initially, once you've become his true friend he'll fight for you forever.
When he was young, he was quiet and stuck to himself. While this was caused mostly by a lack of confidence, he still has his moments where he just isn't terribly talkative. On the other hand, when he feels very strongly about something he has a habit of saying it out loud, sometimes not particularly on purpose. This gets him into trouble.
While he could be described as charming and charismatic, it's more of a by-product of how genuine he seems to people. This is probably because of the earlier trait of not being terribly good at keeping his thoughts on the inside- he's a horrible liar.
His other self is a pretty interesting situation for him, because he's so relaxed with the guy that he seems almost to be an entirely different person to him. He's partially more harsh to him, knowing that at times he's necessary to keep him in line, and simultaneously is his primary support. He cares very much about his other self, sometimes seeming to care even more than he does about his other friends. While he would gladly die to save any of his closest friends, when faced with Atem's possible destruction, he was suddenly going as far as to put the puzzle back together in the middle of a fire, desperate just to speak to his other self before he died.
Despite everything he's been through, and all the times he's been told that he's a the 'chosen one', he maintains that he is no more special than destiny dictates. Anyone, in his eyes, could be a good person. You just have to find that person inside of them, and coerce them out. Hell, it worked with Atem, didn't it? Malik too! And Kaiba... sort of?

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
A prototypical nerd, Yuugi's roughly as strong as a twelve year old girl, and with the stamina of an elderly cheetah. He's relatively intelligent, and insanely good at games, and other logic puzzles. His lack of confidence in his abilities often hampers him, causing him to preform more poorly than he would otherwise.
His only paranormal abilities are directly related to the Millennium Items, and destiny liking him quite a bit- which is to say, none that are very useful. He did real good solvin' a puzzle all right! But other than that... he can't even hold his own in a dark game. The shadows just eat at his (presumably delicious) soul.
He's still quite sensitive, and if one of his friends turns on him, it has the ability to hurt him quite badly. If he's bullied too fiercely, it causes a strange regression into his earlier years, where he was quiet, and too-timid. This usually only lasts as long as he's in the situation, and while in some, very unlikely cases, he might stay for longer than necessary... Typically he's smarter than that.
Strangely enough, however, when he's being taunted or insulted, or even physically threatened in an emergency, he's much better at keeping his cool than he would be typically. This could very well be the remainders of long years of bullying, it could be that he simply doesn't often have the time, in these situations, to spend on worrying.

[ Sample ] :

It was tiring, being a celebrity, Yuugi thought as he pulled on his PJs. He spent all day gently pushing sales of cards to kids for his grandfather, Kaiba would dramatically challenge him, Yuugi would beat him at his own game... And that was just the daily things! At the end of the day, none of that let him quite get past thinking about Atem.
Not that Yuugi wanted to forget him- he'd never do that, and never planned to. But it had been six months (damn. Had it really been that long?) and the pharaoh very nearly dominated his mind if he slowed down for more than five minutes. It was hard to concentrate when you kept thinking about a dead man, after all. He was fine though, Yuugi was sure of that.
He repeated that mantra as he fell asleep.

When he awoke, it was by the annoying green light of his alarm clock. Wait. No it wasn't. It was everywhere. His clock was not that big. Rolling over and attempting to open his eyes and oh god he was falling and that was the ground, ow. Ow. Ow. Wait, why was he all wet?

"What the heck is going on here?"

Yuugi hissed as he rose, examining his newly-scuffed hand. As well as a newly tatooed wrist? Holy shit, what was that?!
It took about about five minutes of vigorous rubbing to realize the weird symbol on his hand wasn't coming off anytime soon. He'd been certain he had fallen asleep in his room- and that he wasn't drunk when he did. This was getting more and more dreamlike.
His first assumption was Atlantis. Maybe something like the memory rpg, but for Dartz. All blue, for one thing. The sky was... not the sky. All right, that was new. Sucking on his scratches, he looked out at the rest of the plaza. Surprisingly, yes, everyone could see him, and no, he wasn't transparent. This became even more obvious when he decided to test his solidness. It hurt, and now everyone was looking at him.

Great.

He'd thought that things like this would stop happening after his other self left, but it looked like he'd never be entirely free of weird adventures. To be honest, though, that was completely fine by him. The priority right now was finding his friends. They had to be around here somewhere, and knowing their luck, they probably needed his help. He could worry about all this other weirdness after he'd found them.
